Every little bit a step forward? Or back?

Hello weight loss enthusiests,
I've been feeling lately the distinctive urge to, outside of my scheduled workouts, go on little exercise bouts, like a 25 minute walk, or rash of push ups or side twists, or stair climbing or whatever.
I guess I have two questions.
1. Does anyone else do this, with the thought that if they just do x more physical activity today, they are getting closer to their goal (millimeter by millimeter?) like does it obsess anyone? Like as soon as you get done working out,do you ever feel like doing something else right away, like the above stated things or whatever?
2. Is there a downside to doing more more more? Like if I became motivated to exercise several times a day, would it somehow backfire on me? Or is this how some of the super-losers (for lack of a better term, those who have lost like 100+ lbs in less than a year's time) is this how they do it? Just go go go?
Another thing is that I've gotten used to eating really small meals and I often find myself eating about 300-500 cals under my 'goal', even though I feel 'full' and usually don't crave things strongly enough (at least lately) to fall off the wagon or cheat, etc. so I don't want to be losing muscle, or doing things the unhealthy way. I have about 120 lbs to lose to my UGW, or 95 to my GW of 180.
I read recently that high expectency goals and busting *kitten* in the weight loss arena is a good thing... like aside from injury or health limitations, it is a good thing and helps people get to their goals faster as opposed to going really slow and moderate (nothing wrong with that of course, I'm just finding myself very impatient), but I guess I'm looking for some experienced voices on these topics, as this is the first time in a loooooong time I've been 'serious' about losing weight.

I had to force myself to make my calorie requirements back in the day, and when I did, it really showed with my progress.
I think about everything I do. Like last night, I decided to have Chinese, and even though I ate it, I thougth to myself, well there went my week of ok eating.
I wouldn't say to work out multiple times a day, but work up to multiple times a week. I personally am starting wtih baby steps, I always do. As I make it my routine to go to the gym daily, I begin to look forward to that time to myself.
I had a baby, almost a year ago, and am now trying to drop the weight.0
