distance to the gym

6 months ago I joined the YMCA to be able to swim for exercise (I have terrible knees, even a physical therapist calls them weird lol). It was 25 minutes away. As time went by and my son's school started back up in september I found it harder and harder to motivate myself to drive that far. I pre paid for 6 months hoping that would help motivate me, apparently it didn't. I stopped going.
Then a month ago one of my doctors told me that my weight was affecting my health, which I knew but have never been told flat out like that. I went back to the gym but knowing that my membership was up I started looking into gyms closer to me. Yes they wouldn't have a pool but I needed to get my butt in gear.
A gym opened up 1/2 mile (if that) from my house about a year ago. I checked out their website and wouldn't you know they were running a special where you didn't have to pay the $100 initiation fee and the monthly fee was $40 a month instead of $50 a month. I checked it out and wow, it is the coolest looking gym i have ever seen, very modern looking/spa like! I joined that day, a week ago. This past week (saturday-saturday) I was there 5 days! 2 of the days I really didn't want to go and they only thing that got me going was how close it was. now i understand why there are gyms everywhere, if you need to drive far you probably aren't going to go.
I am so excited about my new found motivation. Heck today after shoveling my driveway for an hour (wearing my HRM and burning a ton of calories) I would have normally said well that was my exercise for the day, but nope, I then went to the gym and did cardio for another hour!
