Three Weeks Down...Motivational Tips??

Hey everyone! :) I've been a member of MFP for about three-sih weeks, and I've lost 4 pounds :) I eat a strict diet of 1200 net cal a day, mostly veggies, fruit and lean protein (my favorite is cooking chicken on my new George Foreman grill!). I also exercise 6-7 days a week (45 mins of cardio, either elliptical or jog//weight routine). While I'm proud of myself for transforming my eating habits to much healthier (no more beer and fried food!), it's hard to stay motivated...especially with all of the peer pressure! I get told a lot that I'm not fun to go with to the bar anymore (usually I'll just have a single cosmo while my friends will have a few) and my fiance eats whatever he wants...he brought a full pizza home the other day and boy was it calling my name!

Anyway! I'm looking for some tips on how to stay motivated, especially with pushy friends and a man in my life with an incredible metabolism! :)

Thanks!!

I eat everything in moderation. Have a slice of your boyfriends pizza with a big salad on the side. Also, make recipes at home that are similar to your favorite "bad foods" and make them healthier. This website is my bible: skinnytaste.com

Don't deprive yourself of the foods you love. That is setting yourself up for failure.

Also, if you're exercising, then I would eat those calories back. Have two slices of pizza instead of just one. :)

As for the bar/drinking business. Skip the cosmo and get a vodka and soda. You could have two or three for the amount of cals in a cosmo. I try to stick to red wine when I drink, because I trick myself into thinking it's healthier for me.

Just be sure to log everything you eat. The good and the bad.

the first thing i would say, is that you can probably eat a heck of a lot more than 1200 calories. If that is you in your profile photo, you do not have a lot to lose. you probably told MFP you want to lose 2 pounds a week, and it put you at 1200? 2 pounds a week is only a realistic loss for someone with a lot more weight to lose than you have. Try plugging in 1 pound or even a half pound a week. It's healthier, and you will have more calories to work with. That will probably make it easier to stay focused, and give you room for another cosmo or two on the weekends! Sure, it might be a slower loss, but if you can stick with it longer, it's worth it in the long run.
  • I started doing most of the cooking at home so I can make things slightly healthier and alot of the time my boyfriend doesn't even notice the difference. substitute little things at a time (turkey for ground beef, cooked chicken in casseroles, alot of veggies can be chopped up really small and cooked into dinner without changing the taste.)
