six star chocolate whey powder

I was thinking of picking up a tub at Fortino's (you may not have one where you live) but heard a lot of bad things about it.

What does everyone think of it? Have you tried it?

I believe I tried it and it tastes like rear-end. Taste is subjective. Buy a small tub and try it?

I don't know what Fortino's is, but if it's a fitness supplement place, ask for samples. (edit: Canadian supermarket?)

Fortino's is a Canadian grocery store. lol They have the powder in their organic and natural section.

I like the taste and profile of North Coast Naturals ISO whey protein. Chocolate and vanilla. You can get that cheapest at Real Canadian Superstore, or even Bulk Barn.
  • I'd recommend against it! I bought a one lb tub cos I didn't want to wait to get one from gnc or online or my usual stuff. The taste of it wasn't terrible (but I'm used to the taste of whey and supps). I didn't realize how much it screwed me up til I'd been using it a month.

HOWEVER it caused constant GI distress. TMI, but I had diarrhea for the entire month that it took me to go through the one-lb tub. I also got really red in the face (ie systemic inflammation). There are plenty of other lower-cost alternatives for whey, but be aware that the cheaper the product, the less clean the process they're using to extract the whey.

So, I'm back to Optimum Nutrition and GNC branded stuff (which is also produced by ON) exclusively. My stomach issues have resolved and my face has cleared up. The whey was only change in my diet/supplement or beauty routine.

I have a container of vanilla cream flavor, and a container of triple chocolate. I didn't like the taste at first, but it might be because I wasn't able to mix it properly with just a spoon. I started using a small blender (The "Bullet") and I like the results a lot better. Here's what I've been doing with it.

    1/4 cup crushed ice
    1/4 cup water
    1//2 cup skim milk
    9 scoop Six Star powder
    1/2 medium banana
(With the vanilla I'll also add a few strawberries)

I have some almost every day. Yesterday I noticed I was a little behind on protein so I had a second one right before bed.

P.S. No stomach problems, which is amazing since I'm a little lactose intolerant.

Just curious as to how much it costs where you are. I bought my first two containers at the grocery store for $12.99 each. It must have been some special sale because I noticed yesterday that they are now $18.99.
