about 10lb off target... what should my settings be?

Basically, I've seen a lot of posts around here that say you should change your settings when you don't have a lot to lose. I'm about 10lbs off my target now, so should my settings change?
I currently have them to losing 1lb a week, should I put them to 1/2 a lb a week now? When I've done this it gives me another 300 or so calories per day. Is this right? Would I still lose?

Yup, you'll still lose because you'll be eating at a deficit, although a smaller one to reflect the smaller goals. You should change it to half a pound a week and then try to eat your daily calorie goals. Congrats on being so close to goal!

If what you have been doing is working and you feel good, why change it?

This. Do what is working. You'll progressively lose more slowly as you get closer to goal because your basic calorie needs decreases (presuming same muscle tone, body comp., etc.). I wouldn't put much stock in fiddling with your numbers.

But if you want to calculated TDEE and change your approach if/when what your doing doesn't work for you, go to http://scoobysworkshop.com

If 1lb a week is still working, keep it up. If not, go to .5lbs week - typically people advise upping calories if you are at a hault. If within the next 10 pounds you do stop losing, then up calories! Great job so far - you are so close!

When I got to the stage where I had only 10% of my weight to lose, I changed to 0.5 lb a week target loss. This helped me with maintenance, and I did not have the huge shock of having to factor in additional calories every day (strangley this was a challenge). It also meant that I did not have a big problem of losing additional weight when I hit maintenance which has been a problem for me in the past.
