New and blue

Hi,

I'm 36 and joined a month ago, however have just split from my partner and whilst I was doing well have slipped back into all of my old habits, If anyone has any motivational tips to get over him and start getting thin I would really appreciate the support.

  • I'm sorry for your heartache. That can definitely be hard and make it hard to want to do anything. I don't have the perfect things to say to make your heartache go away. I wish I did! But it does get better with time. When you reach your goals, you will feel amazing and look it too! Feel free to add me if you would like support through your goals.

Fake it 'til you make it. This is what I mean: Break ups suck! There is no getting around that. But you can't afford to wait until you feel better to do better. If you do, not only won't you lose weight, you may gain. And then you'll feel worse.

Choose a couple of habits and tackle those for a few days. Drink 8 glasses of water daily. Exercise for 20 minutes. Set open/closed hours for your kitchen. Relax in the evening by taking a warm bath, reading a trashy magazine or watching music videos- - -without a drink in your hand. If you drink, it will add calories and loosen your resolve against other temptations.

Just do it until you actually feel well enough to enjoy doing it. And that day WILL come. I doubt that you are going to let one monkey stop your show!

    All the best!
  • I am sorry for your heartache, but so glad that you reached out. This weekend was tough for me as well, i made some poor choices food wise, but i am not going to quit, and I don't want you to, either. The bottom line is: you can always count on yourself, and when things suck, like they do right now, have faith in yourself. Make your mistakes, then get back in the ring and keep punching! You can do this, because in each of us is the ability to WIN the fight. Best to you.
