Narly Three Weeks In

At nearly three weeks in, I figured it was time to introduce myself since community aspect is helping me to continue logging and checking in!
I'm a 30 year old mother of one crazy toddler and I work at a vet clinic. 3 weeks of the month I'm basically doing desk/office work and the other week, I'm on my feet all day (we work rotations) Before working at the clinic, I worked at a very sedentary desk job and I'm so out of shape.
Up until the past year, I've always been the type of person who can eat a pound of spaghetti and half an hour go back and eat more and never gain an ounce. But, at some point, that stopped. Suddenly, I weigh more than I did at my highest pregnancy weight. I'm one of those people who gets those "What?! Why are you going to the gym? Why are you watching your calories?" comments all the time and it drives me nuts. I wear all of my weight in my butt and thighs and have gained enough weight in the last year that I'm having issues finding scrubs that fit right - ones that fit in the waist are way too tight in the butt and thighs. People assume I'm a size 5 and I am fighting to fit in my size 10 pants (and refuse to go up another size!) and more importantly, I'm HORRIBLY out of shape - when I tried to do C25k last year, I couldn't even run 30 seconds without wanting to die. A fast walk around the block leaves me huffing for breath. People seem assume that if you're not obese, you must be in good physical shape and those two things do NOT necessarily go together.
So while I'm only looking to lose 16 pounds, I'm hoping to lose lots of inches from my hips, stomach (baby belly three years later, ugh!), and thighs and get in shape so next summer, when my son wants to ride his bike around the block, it sounds like fun and not like torture.
If you read all this, thanks! I look forward to making more friends on MFP.
