Setting daily calories help

I have been reading some things that say that you shouldn't be eating below your bmr or your metabolism could stall, but to loose two pounds a week I should be about 300 calories below my bmr. Should I just settle for one pound a week? Which is 200 calories above my bmr?

Settle for a pound per week. It will take longer to get there, but your body will look better in the long run. Plus, it will be easier to stick with a calorie goal that has you eating more.

So, my husband signed up to My Fitness Pal with his trainer and was told to stick with the daily food calories set out for you by the program; meaning don't fluctuate the amount you eat with your exercise. I have been doing this and losing about 1-2 lbs per week. Hope this helps! ;o)

Eating below your BMR will not stall your weight loss or cause your metabolism to crash. For some people, eating to lose 1 lb per week is easier (less cravings etc..) and for some losing 2 lbs per week is easier. It is a personal preference thing.

I have read a ton of studies and if you want, I can hunt up some links but until you get to your essential body fat, you are not going to see a metabolic slow down (especially if you incorporate strength training and appropriate levels of protein).

I have mine set to lose 2 lbs per week (which recommends 1200 calories) and have averaged 3 lbs/week for about 3 months. I had my BF% checked and found out my LBM had gone up 2 lbs (which means I have gained a little bit of muscle, not lost) which is what about a dozen studies have said will happen.
