I'm 20, and I started dieting around January 10th 2013. I am not doing anything radical. Still eating things I like, taking vitamins, and trying to limit my calories to roughly 1300-1700 a day. I actually had the flu/cold a few times this winter, and it's almost like I never bounced back from it. Every single muscle in my body is shaky, weak, and fatigued. It has been like this for about 3 weeks. I don't exercise much, and I am out of shape, but this muscle weakness is too severe to point to that.
My mom thinks with all the stress of dieting, school, work, money, etc. that I have developed strong anxiety to the point where it has reared its ugly head in physical symptoms. The other day it is almost like I had a panic attack for no reason other than the fact I am obsessing over what is wrong with me! Any suggestions besides going to the doctor (yes, I am going)? Any similar experiences?

Could it be mono?0

Have you tried upping your protein intake? I felt pretty worn down and had bad muscle fatigue for a while then bumped up my protein intake (to 35%) and haven't had any problems since.
If that doesn't work (and it would work pretty quickly within a day or two) you probably want to go see your doctor. There could be a serious underlying medical condition.0 -
Make sure you're getting a decent amount of sleep and drink plenty of water.
It may be stress or anxiety related, try making room in your day to do something you enjoy or take time to relax.
The best thing to do is wait until the doctor gives their advice, they'd be the best one to know.
Failing everything, google some detox methods and have a go at those, they usually work for me.
Hope you feel better soon0 -
When I was feeling that way, it turned out to be pneumonia.0

My instincts really seem to tell me that I have some sort of virus or something (like mono...), but I'm not sure if that's the case. Will be seeing my doctor this week. Might also be due to my wisdom teeth growing in. I have 3 partially impacted wisdom teeth, and I am going to the oral surgeon tomorrow. Maybe infection because of my teeth. Maybe sinus infection. Thanks for your help!0

and yes- it could be mono or a number or things. Who knows what I pick up at work. (I work in a nursing home..)0

Are you eating enough? 1300-1700 might not be enough--nursing home jobs can be pretty strenuous. What's your activity level set to? If you exercise, are you eating back your exercise calories?0
