Cardio

Hi friends

I do strength training 3x a week. I have good muscle definition in my arms. My bum is all toned..I have lost weight but its slowly creeping up. I have no additional cardio in my workout and my calories are around 2000/day. What additional workouts can I do? I really don't want to gain weight. I look toned everywhere but my belly. Help:((

Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym. If you want to add in a bit of light cardio 2-3 days a week and keep everything else the same, you might get to where you want as well, as that will give you a bit of a deficit. Something else you might look into would be HIIT training.

Agreed...OP, seems like what you are doing is working fine. You'll just have to be very patient...it takes more time the closer you are to goal.

You could probably work in some elliptical or exercise bike for cardio and not have an adverse effect on your regular training regimen. Start off with maybe 20 minutes each time you work out. This could be your warm up or cool down exercise even.

I think I need to add20-30 cardio and some calorie deficit. Thank you all:)

You don't need both as the accomplish the same thing.

Since the start of the year I've soley focused on strength training and have cut out all cardio. But then I started reading Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle and it has dawned on me that I do need cardio to get rid of the fat. It is suggested that after weights a quick 20minute HIIT session is in order, so that's what I've been doing as of last week. I would agree with other posters here that you don't change up too much of what you are doing. If it works don't fix it. But either reduce calories OR increase cardio. And in the book I mentioned it is advised to always try adding cardio, and if that doens't yield results only then drop calories.

    Good luck :D

I can't say I am any sort of expert, but have done well with alternate days of cardio and weight training, but if you want to do it all the same day, cardio after weights seems to be what most recommend.

Will surely try this. 20 min cardio after weights. I think that should definitely help. Thank u all!
