would you call this junk food?

Ok, so I love nachos...I was going through my kitchen and found a bag of santitas white corn blend totilla chips...I looked at the nutrition label.. 140 calories for 28 grams...total fat is 6g but only 1g is from saturated fat.. 115 mg of sodium...2 grams of fiber no sugar..and for the ingredients: white corn, vegetable oil, and salt. and it says "no preservatives"...i measured 56 grams of these...and used a serving (80 calories) of my reduced fat cheese...whats your opinion?? junk food?? I don't think it is..but its just weird because they are...well chips! the only thing I can say is that maybe the fat content isn't ideal? but I am not too worried about it because I load of on fruits and vegetables...so its not like I am getting alot of fat from other foods...so uh yeah..opinions? :)

I say it's junk food if you're buying them from a restaurant, but not if you make them yourself and don't over indulge and/or add super fatty toppings. Enjoy! :)

I'd have to say junk. If it doesn't add nutritional value I'd believe it safe to call it empty calories & junk. But I'm also called a weirdo for how I eat most of the time. Lol

Last I checked, cheese has anywhere from 6-8 grams of protein per serving.

Look at you, reading labels, modifying recipes to be healthier, asking questions . . . fantastic!

IIFYM, in case not explained earlier in this post, means If It Fits Your Macros, and refers to eating whatever you want, not depriving yourself of anything, as long as it fits with your daily allowances of calories, carbs, fats, sodium, sugar, whatever you have prioritized them to be.

So, with IIFYM, nothing is junk. As you continue to explore, you will find that food from fast food places and most franchise restaurants are pretty darn high in sodium and fat. You may choose to eat those meals less often. The successful folks I aspire to be like on this site will still eat those things on occasion.

    Best of luck!

Definitely. Use some low-fat cheese, black beans instead of re-fried, pico de gallo, etc. You can totally make your own without the extra fat and calories.
