What gives?

So I have been at this since Jan 1, 2013. I started at 208lbs. I am 5'6 and now am down to 187lbs. I took my measurements tonight and the only thing that has changed is my Waist, by 1 inch. What gives? I do cardio ( running on treadmill ) 3-4x week and stay within my cal. goal.
How do you lose weight and not inches?
I'm soooooo bummed. My clothes feel a little loser.. I was just so excited that if ive lost a bit of weight, that I MUST have lost inches. It was so disappointing,.
Any ideas?

Every body is different. For many of us it's the other way around. Clothes start fitting more loosely, bras are a little bit bigger, etc, but not much movement on the scale at first. Just keep at it. Your body will catch on and pretty soon you'll be looking for the next size down.

Fat just doesn't sit around your body. It also sicks to your organs. Be positive and just think you have lost fat where it is most important, around your heart, liver etc. The other fat will come off in time.

    ^ This.

Also, if you are not getting enough protein, you could be losing lean muscle mass. Make sure you get plenty of meat, and mix some strength training into your workouts.

I agree with the getting enough protein and adding strength training. Adding strength training builds muscle mass, and muscle mass burns calories (and fat) by existing.

and there are other people complaining of the opposite..the scale doesn't move but they're losing inches like crazy. The body does what it will do. Perhaps your body will lose from the waist last. That's the way it goes..at least you see a loss on the scale and you need to celebrate that. congrats.
