Help! Not enough weight loss

I started counting calories and exercising since 26/01/03 and to date I have only lost 4 pounds (2kg). I expected the first two weeks to show much better results and hoped to lose at least ten pounds! What am I doing wrong? How were your first few weeks, is this normal?

I try to target 1200 cal per day as recommended on my plan with approx 300 cal lost from exercise daily 5 times a week.

Thanks!

That's about 2lb a week, which is a good weight loss.

I don't know your stats, but netting 900 cals a day is going to be too low, which won't help. Have a read of this:

That's a good loss , think 900 net is too low though x
  • I think you are doing really well. As someone else has said slow and steady! Quite often you see people lossing 10lbs in the first 2 weeks and 9 times out of 10 they regain it. Lossing it slowly usually means you are actually burning the fat and more likely to keep it off. Its all about changing your lifestyle not just crash dieting. Good job well done!

Whoa slow down, it's not a race. Are you trying to lose weight as quickly as possible or are you trying to get healthy and keep the weight off? Setting a goal of 10lbs in two weeks is setting yourself up for failure. Aim for a steady 2lbs per week loss tops, which you have been doing so far.

And eat back those exercise cals. Net of 900 is too low; it's unlikely to be sustainable long term and you may end up damaging your metabolism.
