bruising

I bruise relatively easily and was wondering what foods or specific nutrients (vitamins/minerals) would help minimize my bruising? I would prefer it to be in food form instead of a supplement pill.

could be anemia with low iron. red meat and spinach are good sources of this. if it's bothering you that much you might want to have a blood test done to see if you can pinpoint a cause.

Its going to depend in what you are deficient in. My first inclination is to suggest possible vitamin K deficiency. But it could also be C or B's, or even iron.

I'd suggest going to nutritiondata.self.com and using the nutrient search tool to find foods highest in those micro nutrients, and lowest in whatever you may be avoiding. Since I'm uncertain of your food goals I'm not sure what specifically to suggest.

While I agree that you *might* be deficient in something I'd get my blood tested to see if I am before I started taking random supplements for something that it "might" be.

Deficiencies of vitamins B12, C, or K, or folic acid can cause one to bruise easily. But if you've always been this way, it may not be due to a deficiency. Some people bruise more easily than others. Bruising easily can run in families and can increase with age. Women tend to bruise more easily than men.

If you are concerned, I'd suggest talking to your doctor about it.
