there's 2 types of fiber: Soluble and insoluble.
Both are beneficial.
Soluble fiber is found in grains like oatmeal and wheat. It forms a gel in the intestines and traps certain things like cholesterol making them not absorbable by the body. This is why you hear that oats are good for lowering cholesterol.
Insoluble fiber is fiber the body can't digest and it helps to move things on through the intestines. Good sources of this are your veggies and fruits. Things like lettuce, raw spinach, celery, potato w/ the skin, apples with the skin, etc.0 -
Get your oats for a good dose of soluble fiber as well as soluble fiber. Other good sources of insoluble fiber are fruits and veg, avocado (guess that's technically fruit), legumes, greens, etc. Just get more roughage.0
