This is great! I am to see that studying/brain work actually burns more calories than grocery shopping & cleaning! Now I'm less likely to avoid studying using those distractions, esp. with exams approaching.

  • Thanks for the new cal burned page. :flowerforyou:

Do you or anyone know a website that helps to calculate our target heart rate (THR) safely? Being extremely overweight, my heart starts pounding if I do anything somewhat strenuous (like a slow pace on the eliptical for 5 minutes) and I stop because it's unsettling. I tried the links from the site above and 2 were dead links and the last didn't seem to have any place to look at a chart like it said.

All of these things are a part of your life. lol I know that I still got fatter regardless of how many light switches I turned on. Obviously everything we do in life expends some calories

I wouldn't add it to my calories burned though.

I found a couple articles on the topic of heart rate on sparkpeople.com Just enter "target heart rate" in the search box on the top of the home page. Also, have you talked to your doctor about your concerns? You might want to have a physical just be sure your good to go with heart pounding workouts. I just went in recently myself to have my heart, lungs, blood checked just to be safe.
