getting sleepy after they eat? It doesn't seem to matter how little or what I eat, sometimes it's after lunch and sometimes after dinner. It's annoying to be trying to study (I'm taking college classes) and wake up after dosing off!:grumble: I have trouble getting to sleep that night then.
Any suggestions on what I can do to prevent it?

There are certain foods that will increase your melatonin. I have heard foods from turkey to onions can. I have the same problem, especially after lunch, when I try my best to have a healthy meal because that is my main meal. Then I end up snacking to stay focused. If you find out anything to help please let me know! I will do the same. Have a great and blessed Easter!0

This can be a sign of food intolerances. See for a few weeks if you notice any patterns in it.
I have an intolerance to wheat, and this was one of my major symptoms.:flowerforyou:0 -
viviakay, I didn't think of that. Thanks for the tip!0

I don't like or eat turkey, but I do love onions and I've never heard that they can make you sleepy. When I get sleepy at work after lunch I end up drinking a diet pepsi, and I'm not supposed to have caffiene.:ohwell:
I will let you know if I find anything...I've asked my doctor and she just said everyone gets sleepy after eating! I don't believe that, expecially when you're eating healthy and not eating a lot of heavy foods like complex carbs at lunch. I find myself dozing off looking at the computer (I'm on a computer at work) even after eating a lean cuizine (the smaller 8oz. ones) or a romaine salad with chicken and kidney beans.:grumble:0 -
Most people get sleepy after eating, this is because there is an increase in blood flow to your stomach and GI tract (so you can absorb nutrients!). For some it's more noticeable than others.
You can to eat light, avoid heavy carbs and things. That helps some.0 -

Couldn't be wheat for me, salads don't have wheat, but I'm wondering if it might be protein? I make sure I have protein for lunch because otherwise I'm starving in an hour and end up snacking almost constantly all afternoon. Same at dinner. Hmm, what would I do to eliminate (or cut down on) it and not be starving hungry in an hour or 2?0
