Fasting workout- how many carbs after is too much?

I'm going to try and do a morning workout before food. Nothing crazy- was thinking a brisk walk for 30 minutes. I've heard that it is beneficial not to have carbs directly before or after a workout so as to keep insulin levels down (diabetes runs in my family). I normally have a protein shake in the morning. It has 10g carbs. Is that too many carbs? My protein bar is 18g.

Worry more about your blood sugar and your total daily carb intake. Carbs immediately after a work aren't necessary, especially with what I assume to be a whey based protein shake?0
