I really want to lift my butt and tone my thighs. Does anyone have any suggestions and maybe some before and after pics from workouts you have done. I do not want to lose the little butt I have, I want to form and make it more prominent.

Squat with barbell weights - sets of 15 with as much weight as you can for 3 workouts - then more weight and sets of 10 for three workouts - then more with sets of 8. As low as you can go!0

As far as the weights, should I hold them at my side or what?0

Depends on if you're using dumbbells or barbells. As for your original question do squats, deadlifts, lunges and all their variations. Google and youtube will give you demos of form, where to hold weights and all the different variations you can do.0 -
if you have no weights.. then 1000 squats0

I use a 45 pound Olympic barbell with weights. This is smaller. I'm not sure of the weight, but I think it is either 30 or 35 pounds plus weight.
Use this as a guideline

The strength standards are "standards" so they're universal. I use the crossfit chart because it's easy enough to read. Start with novice or even less if you are concerned and work your way up a few pounds at a time. But these two exercises will work your glutes and hamstrings better than anything else I've tried.0 -
Squats and deadlifts with heavy weights.0

No targeted exercise will cause you to lose fat, but definitely squat to shape your booty! My butt is so much more lifted from adding squats. Barbell with as heavy as you can go for 8-12 reps. Deadlifts are great for the legs as well as lunges, too.0

I have a question on using weights with squats. Is there much of a different between dumbbells and bar, for effectiveness. I have 20# dumbbells. Using both would be 40 lbs, obviously.
Would that work as well as a bar that is 40 pounds? (And I have 25Lb dumbbells,,too)
Right now I use one of the 20 lbs dumbbells held in both hands at my upper chest. Was thinking of using both and holding them up against my shoulders. (I hate that dragged down arm feeling)0 -

squats, lunges and deadlifts for strength training0 -
