I love New York City menu calorie display laws!

I buy my lunch out almost every day and it makes my life so much easier to have calories displayed right on the menu!
I am able to keep to my goal pretty easily.
A lot of fast food places offer healthy options -- Cosi, Pret (pret is growing like crazy, there are 5 within walking distance from my office) and smaller chains too. I think the proliferation of lower calorie options is a result of competition for health conscious New Yorkers.

I don't understand people who fight against being informed - it is not like you are not eating the calories if you don't know about them.
And if you want to eat 1,300 calorie desert, by all means. But being upset about knowing it was 1,300 makes no sense -- what you are really upset is the fact that you ate those calories.

I love it when those who sell us food argue that is not in our best interest to know. It is mind boggling that they succeed -- like the initiative to require a label on genetically modified foods. :(
