Pre-workout snack but feeling stuffed?

Hi all. I'm going to the gym after work (i usually arrive around 6:00 p.m.). As a pre-workout snack, I packed half a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread (totaling 158 calories). ALthough I just had lunch at 2:00, i was feeling frustrated with work and ate my sandwich at 3. Now I feel stuffed. I follow Dan's IPOARM and I still have 300 something calories left for the day, but I'd like to save what I can for dinner since I tend to be a night-eater :-/
My question is, do I really need a snack before my workout? I'm afraid that if I don't eat one, I'll be overly hungry afterwards (despite my protein shake) and set myself up for a binge. Feel free to check out my food diary.
I'm considering eating a single serving bag of air-popped popcorn (110 cals). What do you all think?

I'm certainly not an expert but it sounds like you should at least experiment with not having a snack before your workout if you prefer. I've read that you really only need either a before or after workout snack so your protein shake would suffice. However, if you're doing hard exercise you might want to have a snack before just to combat any sick feelings (if you get sick feelings). I think it's hard to say because every body is different and some people exercise can even have a slight appetite suppressant effect which would counteract your tendency to binge. Also if you know you're a night eater it might be nice to have some calories at that time so you have something to work with.0

Thank you very much Selina! Your advice worked perfectly! :flowerforyou:0
