Losing Weight Slowely

I recently started my weight loss journey on January 1, 2013. I have lost 14 pounds, however recently my weight seems to be CREEPING off. I would say the last 5 weeks I have lost 4 pounds. I am following my 1200 calorie diet to a T as well as doing cardio 3-4 times a week. Nothing is happening! Could there be an underlining health issue causing the slow weight loss? I have tried everything from 1 cheat day (to jump start metabolism) to starting to take a multivitamin. I am getting frustrated. HELP!

Congrats on your weight loss so far! That's a great loss since Jan. 1st! I know from reading other people's posts and responses from more experienced MFPers, that 4 pounds in 5 weeks is a normal weight loss. You will lose quickly the first few weeks, then your body finds its rhythm! As long as you're still losing, you're doing good :)

Oh, one more thing -- this works for me personally -- I eat back some of my exercise calories because my body needs the extra fuel after a workout. And drink lots of water.....LOTS of water!

I have noticed that weight I take off slowly stays off longer. Don't be discouraged. Consider these pounds as quality weight loss that will stay off long term!

If you are getting into better shape and eating healthier, then you are doing soooo much right!

I'm experiencing the same thing! I started Jan. 2, so it's been six weeks for me. I followed my diet (low carb, high fat and protein) religiously -- and didn't even have a single sip of alcohol. I've been eating 1200 calories a day and exercising moderately a few days a week. My starting weight was 175 pounds and I'm 161 now, so 14 pounds total.

But, I haven't actually lost a single pound in the month of February; I've just been holding steady.

Last night my fiance and I decided I should take a break from the "diet." I'm going to keep low carb in general, but not be so strict and see if things improve. Then I will start up my ketosis diet again.
