6 Week 6 Pack

I'm currently doing Zumba, Running and Gym and am looking to throw this DVD in the mix starting Monday.

Has anyone got any opinions/thoughts on whether it will aid with weight loss and tummy shrinkage (i'm not really thinking any abs are gonna be poking through in just six weeks!).

Any thoughts really welcome...... thanks :):)

Your abs will show once the fat hiding them is burned off, that's it its down to diet.

Lose the layer of fat hiding them to reveal.

You already have a six pack (as does everyone else), it's just covered by fat. The only way you'll see 'tummy shrinkage' is a calorie deficit. Don't listen to advertising, videos won't make your butt steel in a few weeks, they won't make you shredded in 30 days, and they won't give you a six pack in 6 weeks. Diet is always most important.

6W6P will tone and strengthen your core as well as giving you a decent cardio workout. It also does a fair amount of arms, shoulders and glutes toning because of the level of planks and squats. You do of course, need to maintain good diet but it will be beneficial.

I know that you need to loose the layer of fat first which is why I said they won't show in 6 weeks lol, just want to know if it's a worthwhile additional exercise to be doing and if it does target on that area :)

I get that was simply wondering whether it was a good exercise dvd to throw in :)

Like the above, it's not just an ab workout but it is a good workout with a focus on abs. I started it but I didn't keep up. I'm having a hard time with my kids being in school. I do SO much better in the summer time :(

    I used 6w6p.

you can't target fat loss on a specific area. you can strengthen the muscles underneath. however, if you really work the core, that can make the abs come out and give you a "thick" look.

the way many people, myself included, will advise you to flaten and tone your tummy is to maintain a calorie deficit, and split your time between strength training and cardio.

barbell exercises such as dead lift, squat, overhead press, and bench press should be the core of what you build your strength training around.

cardio shouldn't really include long sustained runs. HIIT runs should be your priority.

I have the 6 Week 6 Pack DVD and it's a good workout...though I think there are probably better ab focused DVDs out there. I was kind of annoyed that she includes so much cardio, lunges, and moves that don't specifically target your abs. I get that that's Jillian's system, but when I bought it, I was looking for something to add onto the end of my spin bike sessions that focuses only on abs and not a full body workout.

In short, it's good but I don't necessarily feel like it's working my abs all that much.

It's a good workout. It didn't make my fat belly disappear, but it did make me stronger, and it works more than just your abs.

what is involved in "gym"? You are already doing 2 sorts of cardio, I don't see a need to do another really.

cardio and lunges totally hit your abs. as do squats, burpees, push ups, pull ups, dead lifts, and countless other exercises.
  • It's a good little workout that does focus more around the abs, but since ab exercises alone aren't very efficient at burning calories, she throws in other exercises to keep your heart rate up. I also agree with everyone too, that you also need to focus on diet. And when you do strength exercises, your abs will get toned when you use the to support your back.

I love this DVD! I don't do it every day, but I do one of Jillian's DVDs 4-5 days a week and then take ballet twice a week. I have 7 of her DVDs because I am kind of in love with her haha. 6W6P is my favorite though. I'm close to my weight goal and I have really noticed a difference in my abs. It works the obliques really well so the sides of my stomach are becoming really tight and toned (instead of my previous "fluffyness"!) There are 2 levels and each workout is about 35 minutes if I remember correctly. Level 2 in my opinion is a lot tougher than Level 1, but that's what you want! I just switched from L1 to L2 and there's a lot of whining and "SERIOUSLY JILLIAN!?!?" going on when I do it, haha. Give it a whirl!

This thread has been helpful to me. I am ready to purchase a couple videos. I thought about one of the Billy Banks Taebo ones and one of Jullians. I was thinking 30 day shred but now maybe the 6w6p is a good one to pair with the Taebo Kickboxing one. Of course I could get the three, if you think that would be a better combo...

I recommend the Jillian Michaels collection b ox set. It costs about £15 and has 30 Day Shred, 6 week 6 pack, No More trouble Zones and Banish fat Boost Metabolism. Basically you get the four good start you off DVD's for less than £20.

I've completed 30DS and am now on Round Two of completing it, and I'm on Day 3 of 6W6P. BFBM is a great additional cardio workout which I've done a couple of times for an extra weekend burn. Haven't tried No More Trouble Zones yet- it's on my list for this weekend!!!

I'm currently on day 7 of 30 ds. Once I'm done I'd like to start 6w6p. Anyone interested in starting together in a few weeks? I could use the motivation!!
