introducing myself!

Hey everyone,

I'm excited to be on myfitnesspal. I signed up a while back, but plan to use it regularly starting today. My cousins and I decided we're going to use this to keep track of each other. But since there are a lot of other motivated people on here, I thought that I might as well get involved with the myfitnesspal community!

As for me, I've been trying to lose weight since the end of September. I can still remember my first couple workouts like they were yesterday - a 3 mile walk/jog at a zoo here in Chicago (at about a 17 minute pace) with a "cross fit style" workout held for teachers (I work at a school) a week later lead by some of the physical education students. Those two things gave me the wake up call that I needed. First time in my life I ever felt my health was at risk - workouts almost made me vomit, gave me blurry vision, and was just overall more exhausted than I've ever felt.

I went from about 235 pounds in September to about 200 pounds today. The basics are what got me here - calorie counting and exercise (both cardio and weightlifting). I'm hoping to up my game to the next level as well as help my family members (and anyone else here) that are just starting and need some tips or encouragement for beginners.

Anyways, glad to meet you all. Looking forward to reaching my next goal (being able to touch a basketball rim)!
