BMR / TDEE

I keep hearing that you should eat above your BMR but at least 20% below TDEE to lose weight to make it more of a lifestyle change than diet, but here's my dilemma:

BMR: 1526
TDEE (sedentary - I'm a gamer): 1832

20% of my TDEE is 1466 which is below my BMR.

Would the proper way of doing this be eating at LEAST my BMR or eating the 1466 even though it's below?

    Eat 15% under you TDEE.
  • My coworker was a licensed dietitian and nutritionist in a former life (aka, before she had a baby and got this job) and she just sorted me out today!

they tell you 1200 on mfp which is just too low. Her belief system is, to eat your calories based on the BMR of your GOAL weight.

Take your goal weight in lbs, and divide by 2.2 to get the kg. then multiply the kg by 25, and thats the amount of calories needed to maintain your goal weight. This will be less than your current maintenance amount.

The reason i like this is that you dont constantly have to change your habits as you lose, especially if your goal loss is significant. you are developing the habits necessary to maintain the weight you want to be maintaining.

    This^^^

Are you sure your BMR is 15xx? Did you incorporate your BF% when you calculated it? If not, it may be lower than that.
