protein suggestions

I need to add protein to my diet. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm fasting so no meat & I don't like tofu.

I can't have the eggs or dairy. Do you know of a good protein powder?

When you say fasting, do you mean not eating at all? That's what fasting usually means to me or are ou just not eating meat for Lent or something?

    Nuts, fish/shellfish, soy, beans, spinach.

the protien powders from wal-mart are cheap but actually good quality products and pretty tasty. my 16 yr old daughter and I have one for breakfast everyday with milk and a little peanutbutter.

If no dairy, then I guess that means no whey either? Maybe look for a vegan protein powder. I hear hemp is pretty good. The only vegan powder I've tried was made with brown rice and it was very gritty. I don't recommend it.

I'm totally refraining from suggesting a way to get a couple of extra grams of protein...

I suggest Hemp Protein Powder, beans and brown rice if you are going vegan for the fast.

Quinoa is a grain and has good protein, about 8 grams for 1 cup. I prep mine like a rice subsititute.... Nuts have great protien and nut butters, almond and peanut. Get apples or celery and dip them in almond butter. Alsoeat raw almonds are good snacks... I eat them all the time.

Vegan proteins - nuts, beans, legumes, seeds (especially flax and chia)

For a nutrient-dense vegan protein powder, go with a pea/rice protein isolate like LifeTime Fitness' VeganMax or Whole Foods VegaOne.

A good soy, rice or pea based protein should work for you.
