Confused about Strength Training

There is no way that strength training does NOT burn calories, right? I did a bunch of reps this morning and got them all inputed but it didn't say that I burned any calories. How does this work? Does anyone know how I can figure out what I burned? I have Comcast so I use their Fitness videos OnDemand and I did two 15 minute sessions. Thanks!

You can add it under cardio. Just search for strength training.0

Strength training burn is difficult to calculate because it's mostly "afterburn". If you want to log it under cardio you will find that it burns about 100 cals/20 min.0

Interesting! Thank you0

MFP does not provide calories for strength training. You have to input it as cardio instead. The strength training section is for your reference and tracking only.0

I like to wear my HRM while I'm lifting, even though I know the number isn't supposed to be accurate. It consistenly shows calorie burns 3-4x higher than what MFP puts if you let it calculate the calories as a cardio exercise.
I've also noticed that by logging what the HRM shows, eating back my exercise calories on the days I lift, and remaining at a maintenance calorie level has had me at the same weight over the past month. Makes me think that although a HRM isn't supposed to be accurate for strength training, for me, it seems to work out.
Your mileage may vary, but that's worked for me.0 -
I use my polar HRM to determine the number or calories I burn for strength training.0
