What do you eat when you are *starving*?

So for the past couple days I've been absolutely ravenous, no idea why but what do you eat in this situation that is low cal but will satisfy/fill you up? I've been drinking tons of water in addition to eating as I normally do, what gives!

When I am starving and can't wait for dinner, I fill a bowl with raw veggies - cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, red peppers, and radishes and let myself eat as much as I want. I eat less dinner that way too.

When I'm starving, especially if I've been hungry for days, I assume that I actually am hungry and eat a nutritious high calorie meal.

choose minimally processed or veggies with hummus or something with high protein
a small bit of Parmesan cheese ( not the green can) is yummy and chewy if you want something salty.

The combination of a vegetable or fruit with a protein and good fat really helps to satisfy a case of the hungries.

For example, apple slices dredged through peanut butter and honey (to liquify the PB a bit and make it more dippable, plus I like sweet things). A big salad with light dressing and cheese and/or meat.

    There are two different types.

That which happens when you are start losing weight or when you are changing eating patterns, basically your body is ready for the meal/snack it always expects. Something like pickles always killed those cravings for me.

When you are at a low BF% and your body gives off real starving signals, it is totally different. It doesn't go away, you fantasize about eating, no meal is ever big enough, and you have zero urge to eat anything like snack food, real filling meals is what you crave.

The first type is nothing, usually goes away on its own, drinking some water helps. The 2nd type cannot be addressed with a low cal snack food.

Lacking an ED or financial induced starvation, most westerners will only expeience real starvation signals when on the quest for sharper abs.

Like a steak w/ butter and a big salad w/ an olive oil based dressing and maybe a bowl of berries for something sweet if I could still eat more. Just eat good, nutritious food and don't get hung up on the calories -- it works.

First I drink an extra glass of water to make sure that I am not just thirsty.

After I drink it and wait about 15-20 minutes, if I am still hungry I have something to eat. The time of day and how close to dinner determines what I eat. If it is too close to dinner to have a full meal, then I just have a string cheese stick or fresh cut veggies, just something to hold me over. If it is meal time, then I try to do something that the whole family can eat, like baked chicken breasts and steamed veggies. My husband likes to hunt, so sometimes we have deer meat stew, or other wild game. I try to make meals that are healthy and tasty so that the rest of my family don't have to feel like they are on a "diet" with me.

Peanut butter and celery always fills me with just a couple tablespoons full.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear - I've been feeling like this for approximately 3 days. I have been eating as I normally do. I've been drinking water constantly, and am hungry after that as well as after eating a meal (like the exact same meal I ate 4 days ago and was full).

I'm asking for suggestions for foods you find especially filling and can really satiate you. And yes I am hung up on calories so I'm not going to just throw that out and not worry about it, that does NOT work for me - so I'm looking for low cal suggestions for meals or snacks.

I think peanut butter is a great rec though, I need to get some. Or is almond butter more nutritious?
