Haunted house?

Ok so I'm pretty sure my apartment is haunted :( I've lived here for two years and I've never felt uncomfortable until the last coupe months. One morning around 2am I snapped awake and looked behind me and swear I saw a girl looking at me. My husband thinks I hallucinated it bc I was still groggy. I feel like I'm always seeing movement out of the corner of my eye, I have heard some loud bangs from the stairway going to the upstairs apartment even though I know no one is home. I just feel so uneasy, I try to stay up most nights until my husband gets home (3am-ish) bc I'm afraid I'll fall asleep, wake up and see something. I don't know why I've always been so comfortable being here alone and now if just feels off. Anyone have any experiences and how do you deal?

Whats the story with the house before you lived there? I'd look into it. :) previous tenants, check archives/news/etc to see if anything happened there in the past.

I grew up in a haunted house where stuff would get thrown at me, it would move on it's own, and I was attacked by what my brothers still call "the toilet paper monster". I'm 25 years old and still say I was attacked by a monster when I was 6 because I didn't replace the toilet paper roll when I got up to go pee.

The only place in my house that didn't feel haunted was the kitchen.. the entire house burnt down besides the kitchen. When I moved to a new house all my friends said they couldn't believe I lived there because of all the horror stories they heard. Apparently there are dead bodies in the well.

hmmm my apartment is haunted also.... i even took a picture with an orb on my forehead... lol... i see ALOT of orbs around my cross thats hung up in the hall...
i hear water dripping from the sink even if nothing is running/ usually when the lights are off.... the water from the bowls left in the sink just start dripping like someone is moving it lol..

i have had the closet door open wide open in my kids rooms and also shut...

i dont let it bother me... ghosts are not bad... demons are the ones you have to worry about...

you know if you have a demon in the house when you feel someone breathing on your neck when no one is there, or they start calling your name, or you can hear foot steps ... ghosts can not do this... i know this because a friend lived with a demon for 9 years and he would wake up with scratches on his back.. the old house he used to live in hasnt been able to keep a resident for the 12 years he has moved out, the longest someone lived in that house was 3 months..... him and his family was pretty big so they didnt want to let something like that pull them out... but... anyways.

i wouldnt be to concerned with your situation... seems like a spirit... not a demon... :) this may sound weird but i sometimes its nice to talk to it and tell them to go into the light.. sometimes they have something unresolved and need help solving... so maybe hire someone?? or throw holy water if your scarred?

i probably sound like a crazy person right now but its all true..

one time my ex and i had broken up and i was living in a apartment all by myself with my kids sleeping in the other room, i was watching this show where they talk about missing children. for some reason i got a REALLY uneasy feeling and i felt overly emotional and sad, then i heard a loud newspaper ruffle and i look out my bedroom door. - no lie i saw a newspaper lift up in the air like wind was blowing on it! but the bottom page was still held down.... i tried ignoring it- thinking im just seeing stuff and i kept watching my show... IT HAPPENS AGAIN but this time makes a loud ruffling noise i WAS SO SCARRED so this time i changed the channel to cartoons lol and i went out to look what was making it ruffle... - i look at it and it was IM NOT EVEN JOKING an announcement of a missing girl IN MY CITY!! so at that point I GOT SO SCARRED TURNED ON ALL MY LIGHTS and no i didnt even want to help her find her way out because i freaked lol... true story..

i grew up in a house and feel surprisingly safe from ghosts in an apartment.

i think you are just tripping. try to eat healthier and work out more. there are no ghosts.

Try burning sage, supposed to be good for cleansing the atmosphere. If you're uncomfortable, move as soon as you can. Some "ghosts" are harmless, others can really impact you negatively. Trust your gut.

CREEPY! I totally believe in ghosts and the paranormal. I'd definitely look into the previous tenants to see if anything went on while they were there!

Could the bangs be the heating? If you've only noticed it within the last couple months, and that's around the same time you started using the heating, that could be your culprit. Also, do you have a lot of exposed wires? Is your bed near something that pumps out a lot of energy? Areas with high EMF (electromagnetic field) readings can create a "fear cage" sensation. It is not uncommon to catch things out of the corner of your eye that aren't really there. Did you know that there is actually a frequency of sound that causes your eyeballs to move rapidly back and forth? That can also cause you to hallucinate. A lot of these problems can be found in old buildings, or buildings in the process of being renovated.

If it puts your mind at ease, try calling in a paranormal group of some sort. I imagine there is either a college group or a professional group in your area. Just use google to track them down. They would be more than happy to work with you.

Good luck, and keep me posted!

Have you spoken to a counselor? Are you under an unusual amount of stress or had recent life changes?

Hmm I'm not sure. My husband said I'm sleep deprived and paranoid lol I guess I have been under much more stress lately. It probably is mostly my mind. My husband actually started a paranormal group so I guess he'd know if something was up. I honestly thought it was happening bc the new upstairs neighbors maybe brought something along with them. The house itself really doesn't have much history, it's just been an apartment for the longest time. But like I said I have been here two years and have always felt perfectly comfortable. It could be just be putting ideas into my own head lol... Thank you for sharing your opinions, as sarcastic as some of them might be ;) lol I know I sound silly.

I think that ghosts tend to make their presence known within the first two months of you moving in. If not, maybe she is a friendly ghost? I think possibly you may have pissed her off recently, if she waited two years to haunt you. Perhaps you accidentally brought home an item that is possessed by a demon, and now it will follow you forever. Or maybe you should stay off that Ish.

My apartment where i use to live was said by the magement to have had a tennant killed in it many many years ago.

We, my roommate and i , were told this after funny things went on.

One night my roomy was going out for the night and would'nt be home till later the next day. So i did the norm... and then went to bed. I woke up later that night and the living room light was shining on under my bedroom door
I know i had locked all the doors and made sure like most to turn off all lights before going to sleep.
I was too tired to get up and dosed off again. I re awoke and the light was off. I assumed that my roommate had forgotten something and had came back for it and then left.

The next day when my room mate came home , i asked " What did you forget ? " and she replyed what are you talking about.
I explained about the light being on and when i woke up again it was off. She looked at me funny but we figured it was the pull string on the ceiling fan light that must of been titering on the verge........So i wanted to believe....

She herself saw things , Once she walked past my bedroom door and swears she saw someone sitting on the edge of my bed as she walked past to the bathroom.. She stopped and leaned back again and no one was there...

It happened a couple of times more and we were puzzled untill one mourning...I was tired and went to bed early...i got up at the crack of dawn and when i opened the bedroom door and turned the corner to the living room i saw a bright light shoot straight into the wall Like i had surprised it. I know this happened and there was nothing shinny moving that could reflect the light that i saw.

I was stunned and went back to my bedroom and grabed a bottle of REAL HOLY WATER and squirted it on the wall were i saw the light disappear into and made the sign of the cross with the water.. Nothing happened after that ...... Then we told the manager one day and thats when they told us about the murder or suicide of the tenant in our apartment many years before.

So they say............... But i know what i saw and that light turned itself ON and off ......Not the first time in my family for really strange things to happen to...But the Holy Water did work caused it stopped happening after that...but you have to believe or its just water.

  • Hi everyone,

I found this message board and just wanted say your stories are pretty chilling. I run a paranormal investigation where I live and have experienced many odd unexplainable things. If you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to give you any advice or thoughts on the situation.
