A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

In the "Successes" thread I noticed after joining the site that people often post before and after photos and there are some really dramatic changes for a lot of people. So during the first week I took self-photos of my belly without a shirt on with the idea of taking new photos at the end of each month to see the changes. I've never had body image issues but after gaining 30 pounds of weight that I don't need I had become increasingly disturbed at the size of my belly which is the part where my extra weight is most noticeable. Well, like the old saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words." My belly looked even larger in the photos than when looking at myself in the mirror! So at least for me, the periodic photos will be a big personal motivator.

That's good! I know I definitely look bigger in pictures than I look in real life so it's the same for me. I look at pictures of me and am just disgusted & it makes me want to go work out even harder!!

When I started on my journey to better health in Jan. of '08 I took a picture from the Christmas before, standing next to my skinny sister and put it up on my fridge as a motivator. Over two years later and 80# lighter, I still have that picture there to remind me of how far I've come and know I'm never going back! Best wishes to you..
