I wear a bodymedia fit, so i know my calories burned through the day is really acurate.
I have a very sedentary lifestyle, i have two little boys and we live in a small house, we spend a lot of time at home so i don't burn a crazy amount of calories during the day except for when i exercise. My personal trainer says i should be eating 1900 calories a day.. that means that if i want to lose 2 pounds a week i need to burn 2900 a day. In order for me to hit that target i have to do a 5 mile strenuous hike, an hour of cardio ( spin, dance fitness, HIIT elliptical etc..) and an hour of strength training which makes me burn around 1600 calories from exercise. I feel like this is overkill for every single day. and most days i am killing myself to eat that much, like having to force it down. anyone have any thoughts? i would like to weigh 130-150 and have my BF% 16-19

Your diet shouldn't stress you out. It really needs to be a change in life-style, so you need to find something you can live with from now on. Losing weight should not require a two-hour daily workout.
This works great for me: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12
It was posted by a MFP member, and it's really helpful in explaining what's what, and kind of gives a step-by-step for those of us who are clueless (myself included).0 -
So I am your same height, live a sedentary lifestyle, and count my excercise calories with a nike fuel band. I eat between 1200 to 2000 calories a day. Generally closer to 1500 a day. (before deducting exercise).
I lost 46 pounds in like 6 months and my goal was 1/2 to 1 pound a week. My doctor and MFP calculates my calories burned being sedentary at 1250 a day for being sedentary - so if I eat 500 more calories and exercised off 500 I would still, theoretically, weigh 129 pounds (I am at goal, hoo rah!).
I would recheck with your trainer. to lose 1 pound a week is 500 calories a day, to loose 2 pounds is 1000 calories a day... so it seems like a recheck on either the food calories or the exercise calories is in order.
Keep up the good work and explore what works for you. It's ok to lose weight at a slower rate.0 -
you do NOT need to burn 2900 calories a day. you create a NET deficit, not a TOTALdeficit. so you can eat 2000 calories and burn 100. or you can eat 2500 calories and burn 600. or you can not exercise at all and just eat 1900 calories.
also you need to find out if your PT recommended that number based on your activity level. if s/he calculated 1900 based on your current workout routine, then you just need to eat 1900 flat and be done with it. if s/he did not take your daily activity into account, then you eat to 1900 net.0
