Soooo hungry!

I've been doing MFP for almost two weeks now and it leaves me so hungry! I'm trying not to bust through my intake. But just before my run today I was so ravenous that I had to down a cup and a half of cereal on top of my earlier snack. It was like I was in binge mode and never ate so fast in my life. I hope this really does help me lose the 6 or 7 stubborn pounds. Any input?

I've found that if I'm really starving I'm either A) not getting enough protein or B) going too long in between meals/snacks.

If I'm really hungry then I tend to reach for the closest thing in site, no matter how unhealthy or calorie dense. It works for me to eat a small breakfast becasue it keeps me from being so hungry at lunch. I also eat a small snack (usually 1/2 ounce of nuts) at about 4:30 just before I go work out, and then I'll have a protein bar (about 200 cals, and 8-10 g protein) right after that because I'm getting home to cook dinner until about 8pm. It will take some experimentation to see what works for you.
  • how many calories are you consuming per day? maybe your defict is too high? also try drinking lots of water to keep your tummy full, and make sure your getting enough of each food group (fats, protein, carbs) etc. x

According to your diary, you're not eating your daily allotment of calories. I would start there, and add more protein.

Agreed. Some people think that if you are under what your goal calories are then you are doing great. The point is to reach your goal and possibly going over by 100 or so is not going to hurt you. Anything less than 1200 calories will cause you to be hungry, especially on days where you exercise.

    THIS

Try cutting out (at least some of) the pointless calories (like the sugary snacks and other junk food) and replacing them with better food choices that will help you feel full longer. Also make sure you're drinking enough water...not being properly hydrated sometimes makes you feel more hungry....

True statement. Eat more smaller meals (every three hours or so) and make sure your protein is on the high side. I try to get around 145gm lean protein a day. As mentioned, water. Sometimes you might think you are hungry, but just thirsty.

↑↑↑This.↑↑↑ If you only have 6-7 lbs to lose, there is no need to have a huge calorie deficit, so if you go above your MFP goal, but below your TDEE you are still doing it right. Protein will help you feel full longer as well. Don't let yourself get so hungry that you need to binge. Snack as often as you have to to avoid feeling ravenous. And if you just can't work with your calorie goal, you can always workout more to get more calories. Then eat back those exercise calories!
It can work without feeling starving, I promise :-)

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I was under the impression not reaching my calorie goal was a great thing. I'm going to try your suggestions.
