Hi everyone, I am a wife and mother of 4 and this is like my 3rd try at loosing weight! Im so sick of being stuck in this body and letting it control my life! Every time I start trying I give up and I have no idea why? I can't ever finish what I start. I always think I look fine but when I see picture's of myself I can't believe its me! I was thin before I had kids and on the inside I still feel like im the same person. I need help and support from people that know where im coming from and can kick my butt in shape when I start failing. I need to get out of this place im at in my life right now so I can be a better mother and wife. I hope I can find some good friends to help me and also that I can help as well! :)

  • I'd be glad to help you. I started in Nov of 2012 and have lost 30 lbs. Better than I've done in years. I still need to lose 60 more . It's a lifestyle change for me ,not a diet. I really like my supportive friends here on MFP. I am on here every day, several times a day.
  • Thank you!! Way to go on your 30lbs lost! I can't wait for that to happen to me! I will be on here alot everyday as well, im sure!

Like you, I'm determined this time and have given myself a year to lose the weigh i have gained steadily over the years. I have even set myself goals throughout the year.. My first one being the start of April and having only been on here since mid jan, it looks like i'm going to beat it....yaye.

I limit the amount of photos i have taken, I just don't like how I look and over xmas I just felt frumpy and yuk....Hence the new start.

MFP is fab, the sites easy to use, its great the way it tells you what you could weigh in 5 weeks and the support you get on here is amazing.

Anyway, good luck on your journey and feel free to add me. I'm on here everyday, not that I'm addicted, lol

Hey! Good for you for taking the first step - and for asking for help! I think that, besides using this site to make healthy choices become habits, the support we offer each other is absolute priceless! I know it has been for me!

I try to be on every day, so anyone can please feel free to add me, if you like!
  • It takes 3500 calories BURNED to lose 1lb. for example:
    if you ate 2800 cal a day x7days = 19600 calories consumed a week
    if you burned 3200 cal a day x 7days = 22,400 calories burned a week
22,400 -19600=2,800 net burned for the week it's not quite a lb lost but it's .8 lost

How do you know what you burn a day? look up BMR and enter your body data. I know all the pills and stuff the world promotes sound great, none of them work, they only increase the amounts of calories burned a day by small amounts and supress your appetite, but if you don't know your basic calorie intake or your basic burn a day, nothing can help you manage the outcome. I explain this to say that I have lost 45lbs in 6 months and I work out roughly twice a week, but walk 3 miles 3 days a week in the summer............hope this helps.................
