Hi,

I was thinking of joining a Pole Fit class in my area. Has anyone tried this? Does it require a certain level of muscle strength from the get-go?

i've never done any kind of pole fit class, but i did do a couple pole dancing lessons a few months back. there are muscles that you're going to use that you didn't know you had, so expect to be sore, but the stronger you are when you start the easier it will be to do some of the more advanced moves. that being said, i think it would be a great way to gain strength too if you don't want to wait to build muscle before trying it.

I'm taking a pole fitness class currently, and I can't speak for every place that offers these courses, but where I go works you up to the strength you need to be. This week will be my last week of level one - 7 weeks of class once a week - and I was shocked how much stronger I am already! I have chicken arms and am able to keep up with the other girls.

Pole fitness is really fun and you will work up a sweat. It does take strength, but for a beginner you'll start small and work up to bigger moves. Have fun!

When I started pole, I had no strength, no flexibility and no coordination.

I've been doing it now for nearly 3 years and it's the best decision I made. Your strength improves everytime and your confidence has a massive boost too.

I don't think there's a better form of exercise out there, coming from someone who hates most forms of exercise!

You should give it a go, I don't think you would regret it at all!
