Spin Frustration!!

So let me start by saying I LOVE to spin, ever since I first tried it, it's been my thing. I take a number of spin classes at the gym, at least 3 times a week ! I would take more if my schedule allowed!! GGX CYCLE, RPM, RPM 60 you name it I take it!
My frustration is this... I got back in the saddle after not taking spin for a few months and using my HRM , I learned I burned over 800cal in that class, but since that point my HRM has been reporting lower and lower calories burned in each class... yesterday I only burned like 580 ...I left so frustrated... my heart rate remained at 160 throughout the entire class, I pushed myself, and pushed myself... maybe I need to push harder??

As your body adjusts, you may burn less. If that first class was the first after a significant break, that may be why you burned so much. 580 is still an excellent burn for one workout.0

Yes it's perfectly normal. As you become more fit and lose weight, you will burn less.
My first 5K race, I burned the equivalent of 733 per hour (took me about 46 minutes to finish it). Now? I burn about the equivalent of 510 calories per hour.0 -
Thanks for the answers! I have noticed the classes have gotten easier for me, I can push through much harder resistance now, with a pretty decent speed. I guess I need to stop focusing so much on numbers !0

If you want to burn more per hour only thing you can really do is to either push your self much harder, or easier switch it up, do a different type of activity, prefferable something different than spinning. When your body gets used to that you can go back to spinning and you will burn more for a little while. And then just repeat this when youre not happy with the number burned.0
