The body is a very complex thing. Duh, we all know that. But I want to give you an example of how looking at the big picture can help keep you on track.
60 days ago I weighed 217 pounds (I was on a cut). 17 days ago I weighed 223 pounds (I was on a cut after bulking to 227). Today I weigh 233 pounds (and I am eating at a deficit).
I KNOW it is mostly water weight. How do I know? Because I track my calories every single day. I KNOW what my TDEE is because I track every single day.
I Injured my shoulders in December and have been out of the gym (so naturally my TDEE decreased) and I am on Prednisone (which has a side effect of water retention).
The point is. If I was not in the picture of looking at the big picture, I would probably be freaking out and making drastic changes to my diet, etc. However, I am at peace and know, as my injuries heal, my weight will drop pretty fast (anyone want to bet???).
If you new guys learn to track over time instead of day to day, life is much easier.
