You haven't provided enough information in your post.
How much do you weigh? How tall are you? How much are you eating? Opening your diary will help people make suggestions. Are you weighing/measuring all your foods? Are you drinking enough water? Are you limiting your sodium?
It can be a lot of things.0 -
If you are eating alot of fast food lately you are probably retaining alot of water weight from all the salt. (I know after one fast food meal I will usually put on anywhere from 2-5 pounds for a few days just from all the extra salt in it)0

Sorry about that, and I'm 5'7 169 lbs ,18 years old , eating about 1700 calories a day, mostly fast food lately.0

How much weight are you trying to lose?
Try to cut out or limit the fast food. You will not be gaining fat if you are under your calorie limits however the sodium in those foods will cause you to retain water which causes the scale to show a gain.0 -
I'm trying to get to 155 or 150. Just trying to lose all fat that I can.. flat stomach and everything , and thank you , I didn't think of the salt retaining water0

Yep, water retention from the fast food. You've got to get away from that crap.0

You don't have a lot to lose...up your goals to 1 Lb per week tops...when you get within 10 pounds of goal, dial it back to .5 lbs per week. When you don't have a lot to lose and you have a bigger deficit, you will stall faster. You will also end up burning a lot of lean body mass with rapid weight loss goals when you don't have a substantial amount to lose0 -
good afternoon to all:) I too am somewhat new to this calorie counter,
I am a memeber since January 2013. I am also following Weight Watchers. I am using MFP to make sure I get enough calories and enough nutrients since I am a vegan.
I am 5'3 and presently weigh 135.4!!! I would love to lose 5 lbs!! but th scale is not budging if anything it has gone up. I work out 5-6 times a week, alot of cardio and weight training which I am switching up every 5-6 weeks. I drink lots of water, had my hormones checked given I am 43, all is great in that department.
I thought maybe I was gaining muscle but NOPE:( my pants are still tight and I still have bumps in my tushy!!!! OMG!!! I am so frustrated...has this happened to any one else out there??
I am not eating my excercise calories and I am usually within my range, usually about 50-100 cal under, my sugars are higher given fruit (2-3 a day) and carrots!!! But not an orchard worth...I stay within my portion size.
Any suggestions or advice out there???? Anyone...help.0 -
Do you go to a gym? If you do, you would probably get the results you want but better by building muscle.
So, to do that, put your weekly goal at maintain or even gain 0.5lbs per week and lift heavy weights while getting in more than enough protein. BUilding muscle will make you look much smaller even though your weight may be more.0 -
Thank you answering so quickly I love this:)
I have a gym in my basement and I have a personal trainer. I am just finishing off a 5 week program of heavier weights:) Good call btw:) but the jeans are tight!!! not losing inches. My trainer just took measurement yesterday. But I would have though I would at least feel it in my clothes getting looser?? but this has not happened.
With regars to the protein it seems as though I am getting enough at least accoring to MFP0 -

My post was for the original poster but can work for you too.
The default protein setting on this site is far far too low. Go well over it daily. Same with fiber.0 -
OOPPSS sorry..... I recently read another post and my caloric intake they suggested which is 1300 may be too high for weight loss even though I am doing alot of excercise......so I changed my info and put it lower not going under 1200cal per day as I heard that was just unhealthy.
but thank you about the info on the protein and fiber will try it out and pay more attention:)
Hopefully this will work0 -
stop eating fast food, there is no way to know how many calories you are actually consuming from fast food.
there might also be a lot of sodium in your fast food which can cause a lot of water retention (beyond normal)0 -

http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ Work out TDEE -5% for weight loss as you have so little to lose. 1300 is still a very low number so I don't know why anyone would say it's too high for weightloss :flowerforyou:0 -
Fast food would definitely contribute to wawter retention due to high sodium.
Also, check out Chris Powell's book which actually recommends upping your caloric intake when you are plateauing. And, taking a bit of a break from the gym. Then, after a week or two, go back to it, and you should see that drop again.0 -
13 pounds is awesome!!!!!!! It sounds like what you're doing is working so keep it up. it's only been a few weeks so please dont get discouraged!0

You have 5lbs to lose. Set your goal at no more than 0.5lbs per week... Better yet, find out your TDEE and take a small cut (like 10%) from that. You don't have alot to lose. 1200 cals is far too low. With so little to lose you should be eating closer to maintance.0
