Rock Climbing

So I'm going climbing tomorrow and wanted to see roughly what the average calorie burn would be so I can plan meals appropriately. It said for an hour of climbing I would burn 900 calories -- is that right? That seems really high to me but then again it has been awhile since I have been climbing. Any personal confirmations, possibly using a HRM?

Wow -- 900 calories seems really high!
As with most things, it completely depends on the person's general fitness state, how much of that time they are actually climbing (because you'll probably be belaying too), and the difficulty and length of the routes.
I think if I go to the gym I burn around 200/cals an hour, but it's always pretty different. I don't always wear my HRM.
I would say to just bring lots of snacks that don't need to be refrigerated, like tuna packs, crackers, nuts, clif bars, beef jerkey, avocado, fruit... Eat when you get hungry because you don't want to get light-headed climbing.
Have fun!0
