Why deny yourself? Just budget for it.

I have something sweet every night. It might be a 60-calorie piece of dark chocolate or a 130-calorie Kashi oatmeal chocolate chip cookie (or both!) I just spread my calories out so that I can have something yummy late at night.

I have the same problem. I'm trying to curb it again but I know what works I just havent been doing it.
First I have to get rid of all the junk food. My husband and kids have chocolate, cookies, ice cream, etc. I have to go back to being a tyrant about it and not buy it or let them bring it into the house. Its hard though cause THEY arent on a diet and try telling a 4 yr old why I will never buy him Entemanns donut holes even though they are his FAVORITES! lol.
Anyway, hot tea definetly works. Keeps hands busy and takes a long time to sip. Keeps your mouth busy. Curbs the sweet tooth.
Having a planned treat like sugar free pudding with Cool whip lite works too. Or Weight Watchers brand ice cream novelty treats are good. You can also freeze fruit like banana slices or grapes. I have also found that dipping apple slices in sugar free dulce de leche pudding is awesome and so is dipping bananas into sugar free chocolate pudding.
If salty is your thing do carrot sticks and hummus or pretzels and Laughing cow light cheese wedges or some plain popcorn.

Simple trick: brush your teeth when you want to curb your eating for the evening. Nothing will taste good with your minty fresh mouth.
  • I used to (a few months ago) have this issue.

    However here's what I do.

    1) try walking in place in front of the tv (beside the couch/whatever) then you would be burning a few calories rather than eating them.

    2) I don't eat if I am going to bed within 2 hours. Since I need my sleep to function and to recover from the day's activities, it's a punishment if I don't get to be in bed before 9:30 (and thus if it's after 7:30 I won't eat.) I am not sure if this is a myth of not about not eating right before bed, but it seems to be working for me, and plus I sleep MUCH better. Is that snack worth losing 2 hours of sleep? For me it's not.

Just offering what works for me.

Chocolate plant fusion protein shake with vanilla almond milk and pb2 powder, sometimes some cinnamon
Helps the craving, you can always make it ahead of time and freeze it also!
