If you get the paper, read this.

I don't agree with half of it.

1. People with fat friends tend to pack on pounds.
2. Whom you eat with is just as important as what you eat.
3. Exercise won't help you lose weight.
4. There's a weight gain virus.

OK, I wish I got paid to make these assumptions...

  • 1) Partially true... but we can't blame our friends who are overweight for our own lack of self-control.
    2) I would agree with this one. We tend to eat a bit slower when we are among friends who happen to be good conversationalists! Just as long as we make sensible choices!
    3) It won't? Not at all? Jeez, then I guess that 136 lb. loss I had the first time around was just because I "counted points".
    4) Yes, and it's called "societal gross excess" and "obscene portion sizes".

What paper published that? And did they receive a little under the table money from the fast food industry?
  • I believe they are correct about 1 and 2, but maybe they should have explained it or written them more clearly. They do tests on these assumptions and I believe #1 and #2 have been proven.

    1. People with fat friends tend to pack on pounds.
(Think about it, we here people stuggling all the time on these chat rooms that their family is eating horable stuff in front of them and it is making it really difficult to lose weight. Also if you have heavier set friends you tend to be influenced by what they are eating, unless they eat healthy all the time)

2.Whom you eat with is just as important as what you eat.
(This one I don't believe they are refering to the person themself, but perhaps the eating habits of that person....do they eat fast, is the conversation fast paced etc...all these things can affect you while you eat.) Lighting, the size of your plate, whether or not you are watching TV, these all affect how we eat and whether or not we feel full at the end of the meal.

    3. Exercise won't help you lose weight.
(WHat they should have said is, exercise ALONE wont help you lose weight)

    4. There's a weight gain virus
(I don't know what the hell they are trying to say with this):)

Hope you have a happy easter!!:flowerforyou:

Technically #4 is a bacteria not a virus.

Ah, Parade magazine. Distorting news to make it more sensational.
