Hi! Also in my forties and I had a cervical fusion 2.5 years ago, following a 3 year period of being injured.

I began losing weight about 3 months post-surgery and started working out a year later (on docs orders). I've been pretty successful and learned a lot from MFP.

    Best of luck to you!

I had a discectomy at L5-S1 about 5.5 years ago. Struggled for several years with residual problems, compounded by weight gain. Have lost a good bit of the weight, but will probably never be back to 100%. Feel free to add me if you would like to chat/need an ear to chew on.

    Best of luck!!!

im presently week four following a lumbar spinal fusion... been out of action for four years .. gained weight and had a pretty horrendous time but determined to do all i can to make things as good as possible!!!
what sort of exercise are you managing to do now and can you feel the benefits of the wight loss on your back?
i had cauda equinea and two neurosurgeries and on all sorts of medication really looking back it seems like a nightmare but time to look ahead now!
