Too much protein - what!!??

I'm puzzled that even on a really healthy-eating day (porridge for BF, green soup for lunch, fish & veg for supper + fruit and yogurt) I'm way over my daily protein allowance. I'm on 1200 calories a day, 48 of protein. Is this right?

MFP defaults the percentage of protein to only 15%. You can increase it manually by customizing your diary. I intake around 35% protein.

Don't worry. MFP's default protein recommendations are low, in a lot of people's opinion.

Thank for replies. Will concentrate on calories and not get hung up on protein.

I consume well over 140g of protein per day, sometimes closer to 200+. Luckily, I knew a bit about macros before I even joined, so that red number didn't bother me as I tried to figure out how to change the macro profile on here from the default.

I'm almost always over 200 grams a day (albeit on a 2500 calorie per day diet). going over 40 something is no big deal. MFP sets protein targets way too low, especially if you're doing any kind of weight training.
