Chicken Pad Thai... Correct info anyone??

Ok so who has actual, correct nutritional information for Chicken Pad Thai at a restaurant? I have seen everything from 430 cals to almost 1000 cals. I really want some but don't want to break the food bank!

It's going to depend on the restaurant, the ingredients etc. Best thing to do if you want pad thai is to make it yourself so you know exactly what's gone in it, and then at restaurants choose a simpler option.

    *maybe a stir fry

It depends on the restaurant. You're better off trying to suss out the components for yourself. How oily was it? How much chicken, noodles, other obvious ingredients.

It's ALLLLLL the calories. Every delicious last one.
  • Depends on where you're going, portion size, ingredients, etc. Take it on a case by case basis.

Panda express is the only national chain I can think of that has pad thai, and their chicken pad thai is 770cal for one serving.

unless it’s from a chain restaurant, or you know the exact ingredients that the chef uses & portion size you are not going to get an accurate number for calorie count.

when I find myself in these situations I always overestimate & immediately put half the portion in a to-go box.

the only way to control the calories is to make it in your own kitchen where you have control.

It can vary so much restaurant to restaurant it is hard to say. If where you are going doesn't provide nutrition information I would pick one in the mid to high range calorie-wise.

I agree with melissann23, always overestimate when it comes to counting calories. Another option would be to look at the nutritional info on a chain restaurant's website, pick their meal that most closely matched what you ate at your restaurant and record those calories. I just had to do that with Olive Garden's website the other day; I went out to a local pasta company who doesn't post the nutritional content of their meals, so I counted the calories from my meal as a comparable meal from the OG.

Depends on the restaurant and how they cooked it that day. I used to work at a Thai place and they had not only different portion sizes, but actually different recipes from lunch to dinner. The lunch version was more American and had a redder sauce. The dinner version was more authentic and had a sauce without tomatoes.
