So I sort of overdid it with the kettle bells on Weds, and am reeeeeally suffering still today!!
Should I do some cardio today to loosen up or just rest today again?

DOMS is a poor indicator of...well...anything. Chances are good that you'll see it fade pretty quickly as soon as you start actually moving a lot. My thoughts: get that *kitten* back in the gym...or whatever room you have your treadmill in.0

that doesn't sound like DOMS - sounds like you just overdid it and your muscles are really sore.
I personally would suggest yoga or cardio just to get some blood flow going, if you are going to lift again before resting then go light, don't pull anything - better to lift today and tomorrow then just today. That being said I wouldn't wait too long before getting back into it.0 -
Yeah, I was off yesterday and really took it easy, I think my muscles are tighter than usual. I can't stand up too quickly or raise my arms! I feel like if I even do that cop of out a sitting elliptical, it'll loosen up my legs. Thanks!0

Isn't that what DOMS is, "overdoing it"?0 -
You could try just some bodyweight movements to get the blood flowing. When my legs get the DOMS, I do a couple of sets of BW squats and that gets the blood pumping to the muscles and helps relieve some of the soreness.0

No. Like I said, it's a pretty poor indicator of anything. When I first started lifting, even though I couldn't pull enough weight to truly traumatize the muscles, I was still a completely miserable mofo the next day. Now, I really don't get DOMS at all, no matter how hard I push myself under the iron. It's too variable to be used as a good metric for anything.0 -
Movement helps to reduce it. Plus more blood flow helps to bring nutrients to the cells for faster repair.

NO mi lady. DOMS is normal. I experience it DAILY with different parts of my body of course! You know your body. If it's soreness then hit the gym. If it's injury like pain, rest.0 -
Just walk it out on the treadmill or elliptical for 30-40 mins while reading amagazine or something!0

Yep moving helps with the stiffness and pain for sure, I tend to work through it and feel better after then next day if I haven't had something to eat to 'recover' then I feel the pain all over again. Maybe have a glass of milk or chocolate milk and a half or whole banana and a bit of oatmeal or granola, usually helps me a lot with the recovery.0

I take l-glutamine when I get DOMS. I heard that cardio helps it for some people, but I can't speak from experience.0

Ninerbuff hit the nail on the head, get moving to flush the toxins from the area and get some nutrient rich blood into the muscles. You will feel much better afterward. I would also recommend some stretching and rolling. Steer clear of static stretching but go more for movements that will take you through a full range of motion, this will ensure that the muscles are staying warm and active. Static stretching causes a stretch-relax reflex that can inhibit recovery.0

My bad... I think DOMS are something else. wink wink.0

When I got DOMS in both my arms they were locked up... literally. I could not move them whatsoever without being in excruciating pain. I had to ice them for about them minutes every hour on the hour for three days before I was able to function again, and even then I had to lay off the arm exercises for about 2 weeks. I would say you probably just over worked. Use some ice and compression and you should be good as new!0

just to clear up some possible confusion, no DOMS is not over doing it,
but yes, what you are experiencing is DOMS0 -

LoL, I remember that happening to me when I first tried lifting as a teenager. I slept with my arms folded up that night, and spent the entire next day in full velociraptor mode.0 -
If you're that sore, it could also be a sign of dehydration. I experienced pretty severe muscle soreness for a couple of days last week and my trainer told me to drink a gallon of water. A slight soreness or muscle tightness a day after lifting is acceptable, but it seems like it's a bit more severe, so drink lots of water and see if it helps. It helped me. Glutamine also helps a ton, but its best to take right after lifting.0

IMO...never lift any muscle still experiencing DOMS...but like has been said earlier...some light cardio or yoga to get bloodflow and nutrients to the muscles will help ease some of it.0
