Healthy snacks? I hate nuts and mushy foods...

One of my most difficult challenges in losing weight is eating often enough, because I'm terrible at snacking. Problem is, I just don't like snack foods. Even when I wasn't "dieting" i.e. watching what I eat, I didn't snack, which I was told by my doctor was bad, especially with my hypothyroid metabolism (I'm regulated, not an issue).

But I don't like nuts- I can't just grab a handful and call it a snack. I also have a food texture issue- I don't like mushy foods, such as oatmeal, yogurt, pudding, bananas etc. I've been trying Special K protein & fiber bars, but I can't eat those as my only snack indefinitely. My trainer only wants me to eat 1 fruit a day, so I can't have 2 or 3 fruits.

Food in general stresses me out (I'm working on it!), but trying to find healthy snacks to keep my metabolism going is driving me crazy. Just looking for some suggestions. Thanks!

I can't get through my day without snacks.

Skipping meals (or going too long between meals) = Body in starvation mode = Over-Eating next meal = weight gain

Now, I don't know if there's scientific research proving above point, it's just something I keep in mind. I snack so I'm never hungry. Little things here and there. When I skip lunch and don't have a snack, when I get home at 5pm, i usually eat whatever crap I can find and skip my gym date.

    At work, I pack.....
Raw green beans or pea pods
    Apples, oranges, bananas
    String cheese
    Plain popcorn
    Broccoli
    Carrots

Nothing soft and nothing crunchy..... what's left? Just chewy?

If you can handle the sodium and fat why not have beef jerky in place of the bars every so often?

My go-to snack is anything with peanut butter - apples and peanut butter, celery and peanut butter, etc. It jazzes up some foods that can otherwise get pretty boring day after day, and adds some healthy fats and protein. I also second the raw veggies and plain popcorn suggestion!

    Some others:
    Rice cakes
    Raw cucumbers/carrots/celery/red peppers
    Crackers and cheese
    Veggies & Hummus
    Pretzels
Grapefruit (less on-the-go because it's sort of a pain)

    Hope that helps!
