Overate calories & the day's not over --- avoid eating?

Long story short, I binged at 3 am. I also had 2 pieces of chocolate at work today and a slice of carrot cake. The day isn't even over yet (though I added the protein smoothie for dinner since that is what i iwll be having after my workout). Obviously, i know I should not have eaten ALL THOSE CARBS especially at 3 a.m. I was sick of depriving myself of sweets so i had my "screw it!" moment with the cake (though i took like half a slice) and two pieces of valentine's day dark chocolate. I also had some free fruit and what i think are whole wheat crackers. I do plan on hitting the gym tonight, around 6:00. In the meantime---can i avoid eating? Please be honest. I don't want to pass out from not eating in 5 or 6 hours. But at the same time, I don't want to go over more than I already have....

I wouldn't not eat. You might find yourself to be satisfied with some raw carrots and celery to stave off the munchies. If you are still at work, and don't have anything but vending machine food, yes, I think I would do without until the end of the day. Keep in mind, this isn't about depriving yourself, count the calories and move on. Just work out a little longer in the gym tonight. I would definitely hit the market for some good nutrition before working out so you are not lightheaded.0

In my opinion i would eat. You made some poor choices today. That is past now and you don't want to finis your day by making more poor choices. Just finish out your eating plan the way you nromally would and keep moving forward.0

Eat, but only eat what you really need.
Take a walk, play an active game, or do anything that's above your base activity level and 'earn' yourself a few more calories for the day to offset the over-eat.0 -
I agree with tekwriter . . . once in a while I crave something that I know is not very good for me. I have a piece of it and move on. I don't really worry about calories.0

Also, remember that you calorie goal probably already includes a deficit. You aren't going over you are just going under by less than you meant to. Eating up to maintenance just means you have a flat day. You don't undo anything you've achieved until you go over maintenance.
Personally I set my calories to maintenance, and then manually build in my deficit. Stops me from getting all stressed (which itself triggers fat storage) if I have a 400 calorie deficit one day, instead of a 500 calorie deficit.0 -
THanks all. Much appreciated! i was thinking instead of getting my normal whey protein smoothie after my workout ( i like it because it fills me up much more than muscle milk...it's soy milk, berries, and whey) to cut carbs i could try something else. My muscle milk dosent fill me up so when I get home after my hour and 15 minute commute, I am starved and eat so fast that I overeat. Recommendations for low carb protein shakes/bars that I could pick up at a CVS or convenience store?
I think I'll do an hour of weight training, 15 minutes of jump rope, and 1 hour on the elliptical.0 -

Yes but I also need to include the calories from the fruit and crackers which i didnt log because it was mixed fruit from a platter and not sure how to log it. or the chocolate. And I go by Dan's IPOARM. My TDEE is around 2100 so i aim for 1900 to lose the last 7 stubborn pounds.0 -
Going over your food diary for the last 7 days, it looks like you were under by 300 or more calories on several days. Don't sweat your binge from earlier. Make some good healthy choices for the rest of the day and you'll be fine.0

Those days i ate things that I didnt want to log because the sheer amount that i ate or the amount of carbs and sugar overall was frightening to face.... Yeah. I'm trying to live by the Intuitive Eating principles (only eating when hungry) but people make it so hard when they bring in free food to the office and when I have ex-roomate drama, etc...or wake up in the middle of the night my automatic response is NEED CARBS.0 -
Should I do a protein smoothie after the workout that has fewer carbs to compensate? Ideas?0
