What are your NET calories for the day?

I'm currently doing Insanity. I'm 5"6' and weigh 156 lbs.

I have my calories set to 1600 calories a day and I use an HRM to calculate my calories burned during Insanity. I do plug my calories in from my HRM reading and I do eat a portion of them back. I typically net anywhere from 1300-1500 calories a day.

Lately I've found myself pretty hungry and struggling to get through the workouts. - Not because I'm out of breath, but because I'm lacking energy and having issues focusing. I was considering upping my calories a bit... possibly netting 1500-1700 calories a day.

My weight loss so far has been anywhere from 2-5 lbs a month. A normal day for me is typically hard boiled eggs with skim milk OR oatmeal in the morning - snack banana - cottage cheese with veggie chicken patties/veggie corn dogs - I then have cottage cheese, eggs or string cheese late in the day before I leave work to fuel me for my workout before dinner. I always try to include vegetables in my dinner and as much protein as possible.... That's probably not super helpful but kind of gives an idea of how I eat.

Thoughts?

Thank you!!

Doesn't Insanity recommend you eat 1800? Or is that P90X? Anyway, yes you should eat more.

You are netting 1500-1700 after exercise?

Why don't you try eating all your calories back? Sounds like you're under-fueled.

Me: I have MFP set for me to lose .5 pound/week, which gives me 1660 calories a day. I try to net as close to that as I can, but don't worry if I'm 100-200 under that, since I'm only trying to lose half a pound a week. If I'm much more than 200 under, I eat something else. I hate the crappy feeling the next day of lacking energy and always being hungry if I don't. I'm losing weight slightly ahead of schedule, if that helps.

I am currently netting 1300-1500 after exercise. Yes, Insanity says 1800, but I wasn't sure If that included my exercise calories. I just upped my calories to 1800... but I enter my calories from exercise in MFP... so I was worried that would be eating too much.

Go to this group for more info, this sounds like the direction you are interested in going in, there are some very good posts about upping calories here.

Have you read his calorie intake recommendation in the book? He tells you to find your TDEE and deduct 500. That's it, but he also gives you the equation.

Definiatley EAT! I found that I absolutely had to eat close to maintenance during Insanity but it was worth every calorie and I found that I improved drastically when I did.

    GOOD LUCK.

Find out your TDEE and try to net about 20% under.

I need to make sure I'm doing this some days I finish under... only by 100 or so, but maybe those 100 calories could make a big difference!

Based on the insanity calculations, she should probably be around a total of 1900-2000 calories daily.

I am no expert, but I read a rule of thumb that said (for example) if you want to weight 140 eat 1400 cals, if you want to weigh 130 eat 1300 cals. You are not heavy enough to lose weight eating 1600-1700 cals, it seems to me. Others may disagree.

That's what I'm afraid of - That 1600 is just too high, but the Insanity is requiring more energy from me and I'd like to stick with it.

This only applies if you are sedentary.

Usually around 1250-1300. I try to net over my BMR which is pretty low (1170). I usually end up eating around 1500-1670 calories per day, but my Fitbit adds exercise when I get home from work, then also when I work out. I'm trying to lose weight quickly...when I get closer to my goal I'll start netting around 1500 or so. My TDEE is around 2000.

Op, just use this link to figure out your calorie. And then set your macro's at the Beachbody default of 40% carbs, 40% protein and 20% fats.

Set that for your total calories with the macro's I posted and don't worry about net calories. The deficit is baked in over the week.

So do not plug in my exercise calories correct? Just stick with these number?

Mine are all over the place but average between 2000-2500 per day. And that's with approx 500 cal/day of exercise. I have lost about 10 pounds over the last 3 months. Not setting any records for sure lol
