I think my legs are strong enough...

My trainer had me do some double-leg press work today (I normally just do single-leg), and I was interested to find out what sort of weight he was going to have me do, since he's been a very good judge of my capabilities, and always pushing me to do more than I think I can do.

After a quick warmup, he proceeded to load up five plates on either side. OK, so that looked a little intense (450 pounds + 115 pounds = 565), but I was able to bump out two sets of 10 reps without too much difficulty.

My trainer was feeling a little under the weather today, and we had used up all of the 20kg plates on the leg press, and I guess he didn't want to move any more over...so he proceeds to CLIMB UP ONTO THE MACHINE and sit there, all 170 pounds of ripped muscle, and tell me "OK, Mike, two more sets."

I thought he was joking, but after I recovered from the frog jumps he made me do after the last set (man those burn the quads!), I sat down and bumped out another two sets. Did I really just leg press 735 pounds? Is that math correct?

I felt like a beast after knocking out those last two sets, but don't want to get too excited about it if the norm for fitness is to be able to leg press 5x your body weight. :tongue: As it is, I did almost 3.5x.

    Good job!

    The true test of leg strength is the (free weight) barbell squat. Give it a try!

    Yep, I do squats as well...most of my strength training is on free weights, with a few exceptions. My squat isn't very impressive. I think I lifted 295 once, but I normally do my reps with two plates or less. :tongue:
