Need Suggestions for Exercise Modifications for Disability

Hi everyone, I've been on MFP for about 6 weeks now and really trying hard to ramp up my exercise routine.

This is my problem. 20 years ago I fell and shattered my left arm. The bone fragments severed the nerves up to the shoulder and it really was quite a mess. Fortunately I had a stubborn doctor who refused to amputate my arm and instead elected to repair it. After 1-1/2 yrs of physical therapy and waiting almost a year for the nerves to grow back, I ended up with limited use of my arm. My left arm is 4" shorter than the right since I'm unable to straighten it completely and so I tend to overcompensate with my right side with strains the back (sorry for the book here).

Anyway, I'm looking for some upper body exercise suggestions or modifications I can do to existing exercises. I attempted the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred (and will try again) - but ended up wrecking my shoulder because of all the push ups. I try to think outside the box and modify what I can but sometimes more brains are better than one. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!
