How to incorporate more protein in an Indian veggie diet?

I am a lacto-vegetarian who loves her Indian food (roti/naan/basmati rice and dals) and I am looking for ways to incorporate more protein in my diet. I have been asked by my doc and trainer to be on a low carb and high protein diet.
I take whey powder with milk (Leanfit - Costco brand), twice a day, Greek Yogurt and a cup of dal (legumes) everyday and I still fall short of my daily protein goal by 30-50g and I overshoot my carb limit by atleast 50g!
Most of my carb intake comes from the 2 slices of bread that I take for breakfast, 2 rotis or 1 cup of basmati rice I eat for lunch.
I have eliminated most carbs for dinner and I take just soup along with some grated cheese.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated!
Thanks
